The Mombasa Wall

2018 has been great year for Mombasa, the tourism industry is slowly coming back. More charter planes are landing back at Moi International Airport, cruise ships docking at Port of Mombasa and international airlines are considering direct flights to Mombasa.  The tourism industry is coming back, Mombasa county as put a lot of effort in restoring Mombasa as a tourist city and bringing back the glory of the historic Mombasa and culture.

The recent project which is restoring Old town by Mombasa County Department of Youth, Gender, Sports & Cultural Affairs is great example of reviving the tourism industry. Part of restoration project is telling the Mombasa story, the history, the culture and what Mombasa is all about.  Mombasa Old town is part of UNESCO Heritage site , the area must be protected. The new murals opposite fort Jesus (Mazrui Family Grave yard wall) and Sir Mbarak Hinawy Road (Mombasa Club wall) tells a story about Mombasa with artistic replica of Swahili culture, the tusks and other impressions of Life in Mombasa.

The Murals is great for backdrop for selfies and photo by tourists, it is time to tell our Mombasa story.
