MombasaWorks is a new coworking space in Nyali housing a vibrant community of young professionals who live and work in and around Mombasa. It’s a great new resource for the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Mombasa and we’re really excited to see what comes out of it.
The space
It’s clear from the moment you walk into the space, a lot of thought has gone into what someone experiences when they use the MombasaWorks Coworking Space. The space is open, bright and cool with large floor-to-ceiling windows covering most of the space. There are living plants, and elements of earth with the natural wood décor. The seats and tables are aesthetic and modern but comfortable and functional. And the free coffee bar reminds you of your own home, with bright crockery and a selection of teas, coffee, cocoa and organic honey; all against a backdrop of a colourful and vivid jungle wallpaper. It is a calming experience, with plenty of elements to inspire as well.
The community
Their vision was also to create a space where independent professionals worked alongside other independent professionals, and that each co-worker would have skills and knowledge different to the next co-worker. This is one of the most appealing things about MombasaWorks, the opportunity to be part of a community of diverse professionals all working side-by-side doing different things but sharing common ideals of communal working, openness to ideas and collaboration, and love of this beautiful part of the country.
The breadth and depth of this network is MombasaWorks’ strength and one of the main reasons you want to be part of this community: tech-preneurs, working alongside development workers, alongside writers and researchers, alongside IT experts, alongside interior designers. A tiny representation of the diverse group of people and organisations that operate and thrive in Mombasa.
